Electric car sales: Renault Mégane E-Tech to debut in July 2022
Renault's new electric compact has largely taken the lead in July. The e-208 remains in the lead for the year to date 2022.
Last week, when presenting its financial results for the first half of the year, Renault was pleased with the good start made by the electric Mégane. The French market figures for July confirm this: the compact car is already leading the way in electric vehicle sales. 1,937 units were registered. This puts the Renault ahead of the Peugeot e-208, of which 1,379 have been sold. It must be said that the Mégane is in the middle of its launch phase, so Renault had many orders to fill.
The Lioness is still in good shape, with sales up 53% compared to July 2021. While those of the Zoe have fallen by 17%, with 953 deliveries. The former champion of the electric market was followed last month by the Fiat 500 (938 sales).
The Peugeot e-2008 came in fifth place with 876 sales. Note that its German cousin, the Opel Mokka-e, took off in July, reaching 10th place with 310 registrations. Also at Stellantis, the Citroën ë-C4 is 9th, with 348 sales.
The Twingo resists to the Spring
The latter is doing less well than the Hyundai Kona, which despite its advanced age was 7th with 711 sales. This is clearly better than the 143 Ioniq 5! And the Dacia Spring phenomenon? Last month, the low cost electric car sold 661 units, ranking 8th. This was worse than the Twingo, which came in 8th with 818 sales.
Over the first 7 months, the Peugeot e-208 remains in the lead, with 11,091 sales. But for how long with the rise of the Mégane, launched in May? This one is already 7th with 4,736 sales, even if there are some copies for garages in the count.
The Spring is second, with 9,864 sales, just ahead of the Fiat 500, which is already a success with 9,860 sales in 2022. The Zoé is in decline, with 9,078 registrations. Surprise: the good form of the electric Twingo, with 8,601 deliveries.
